When I was younger in the early 1960’s my parents gifted me my first German Shepherd. They wanted to make sure while I was out riding my horse that I would be protected and safe. I can still remember looking deep into my eyes. I knew immediately we would be inseparable. I named him Kelly. He was a beautiful black and red short coat with a thick build. He became my shadow, my companion and true protector. The loving feeling Kelly offered me can’t be put into words. He was truly my best friend, I never felt lonely, and always felt protected. I miss him and have devoted my life to sharing the German Shepherd love with the world in his honor.
